Daiso Charcoal Mask review

I’m halfway through my second tube of Daiso’s Charcoal Mask and I’ll be getting more of it when I finish up the tube. It is a very effective and value-for-money product if you’re looking for a quick-fix for blackheads. You can get this at Daiso for SG$2. Here’s a photo of the tube:

Daiso Charcoal Mask

The Daiso Charcoal Mask is a sticky, black substance that you apply all over your face and peel off along with the blackheads and other stuff when it dries. Charcoal is supposed to absorb and remove toxins from the body but honestly, I use this mask because I can see the results instantly and not because of some hidden detox property. I can’t see if the charcoal really absorbs any toxins other than blackheads from the face so it could be made from mud for all I care as long as it gives me the same results.

The mask is black, so you can easily see all the stuff that it pulls out from your face. Kind of gross actually but also strangely satisfying to see all the junk out there. There can also be a slight tingling when you peel it off so it may not be very suitable for people with sensitive skin?

A tube contains 80 grams of product and it’ll last a couple of months if you use it weekly. I prefer this to nose strips because you can use this all over your face. However, it can get very messy because it comes in a sticky, gooey form before it dries. If you spread a thick layer on your face, you’ll also have to wait quite some time (I put it on too thick the first time and had to wait nearly half an hour) before you can peel it off. You can do other things while you wait though.

Here’s a quick summary of how I feel about this product:

Likes

  1. Effectively gets rid of blackheads and clogged pores
  2. Cheap, only SG$2 at Daiso or a few dollars more if you get it online
  3. You can get rid of blackheads from any part of your face
  4. Lasts a couple of months if used weekly

Dislikes

  1. Can get very messy
  2. Can take some time to dry
  3. Slight tingling when peeled off

Overall, it’s a great product and I would recommend it if you have problems with blackheads.

How to Use

  1. Cleanse face as usual and pat dry.
  2. Apply a layer of charcoal face mask evenly all over face.
Note: You may want to tie your hair back to prevent making a mess as the mask is rather sticky
  3. Ensure that eyebrows, eyes, and mouth do not come into contact with mask.
  4. Wait for charcoal face mask to dry completely. You will know this when it’s no longer sticky and skin feels tight.
Note: Remove when dried, do not leave on for too long
  5. Peel off the dried charcoal face mask. You will see immediate results (blackheads removed, pores cleaner, and skin feels smoother)!
  6. Use once a week for optimum results.
